Biloxi's breakfast scene is smaller than its dinner scene, and several of the best spots close Sunday and Monday. Here is where to eat, sorted by the kind of morning you want.

Sit-down breakfast in Biloxi

The Toasted Yolk Cafe is the safest sit-down breakfast downtown: a long menu, real cooking, and open daily until 3 p.m. It is part of a regional brand, and the biscuits and gravy and the shrimp and grits are good enough that nobody at the table will mind. The BrewPaddle Cafe is the pick when you want breakfast to feel like a small occasion, with house biscuits and gravy and tartines. Greenhouse Biloxi is the best breakfast downtown for anyone who prefers a biscuit to a pancake. Note that BrewPaddle and Greenhouse are both closed Sunday and Monday.

Coffee and bakeries

The Grind Coffee & Nosh on Cedar Lake Road is where to go for a strong latte, a breakfast sandwich, and a chair by the fireplace. Le Bakery is the grab-and-go stop for banh mi and French pastries; go early on a weekend, because the case thins out by mid-afternoon.

Breakfast at any hour
