Atmosphere
Greenhouse is the pink building on G E Ohr Street, close to the Vieux Marche area of downtown Biloxi, with on-site parking. The shop began in Ocean Springs, in a small greenhouse on Porter Avenue, and later opened in Biloxi. Local press calls the Biloxi room a quaint, bohemian-style coffee and biscuit shop, and that fits: it is casual and friendly, a place you can be in for twenty minutes on the way to work or an hour with a laptop. It draws a mix of downtown workers and visitors, and it stops serving at 2 p.m., so mornings are the whole show.
What to Order
Order a biscuit sammy. The sweet potato biscuit with egg, country ham, and pimento cheese is the one people recommend most, and the bacon cheddar sammie (Conecuh bacon, aged cheddar, a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, and grainy mustard) is the other staple. Flavors rotate, sweet and savory, so ask what came out of the oven that morning. The coffee side is more interesting than you would expect. Syrups are made in house, in flavors such as lavender, brown sugar and honey, and peanut butter and honey, and they show up in lattes alongside matcha. Brunch cocktails, including a Bloody Mary with house tomato juice, have been on the menu in the past, so ask. You can also buy the biscuit mix and jams to take home.

The cafe lists Tuesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is closed Sunday and Monday. Hours can change, so check the Facebook page (@greenhousebiloxi) before you go. The biscuits are scratch-made, and the kitchen also handles soup, salads, and quiche, so the menu reaches into lunch. Gluten-free friendly listings exist, but ask about cross-contact if it matters. The cafe also does catering and takeout, and online ordering runs through its website. It is not a large space, so on a busy Saturday morning you may be ordering at the counter behind a line. Parking is on site, so you will not circle the block.

Greenhouse is the best breakfast in downtown Biloxi for anyone who prefers a biscuit to a pancake. Go for the sweet potato sammy, add a house-syrup latte, and take a bag of biscuit mix home. Aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday morning if you want a short line, and remember it closes at 2 p.m. and does not open Sunday or Monday.
