The course sits on about 120 acres of pine and oak flatwoods north of Popp's Ferry Road, with ponds and a run of tidal marsh bordering several holes on the back nine. Fairways run wide off the tee, but the Champion Bermuda greens tighten things up fast, with a couple of approach shots that carry over water. The stretch along the marsh is the part regulars talk about most, especially when the wind kicks up off the Sound. It's a straight shot for anyone staying near the I-10/Popp's Ferry interchange, and close enough to the casinos that you can play a morning round and still make a dinner reservation on the water by evening.

Sunkist isn't going to show up on anyone's bucket list, and that's fine — it isn't trying to. This is the course for a golfer who wants an honest, walkable round without spending half the trip budget or waiting three hours for a tee time.
