Bayou Vista Golf Course has held down this stretch of Washington Avenue in Gulfport since 1957, first as Tramark Golf Club and, since a 2017 renovation under new ownership, as Bayou Vista. Course Layout
The 18-hole layout plays to a par of 72 across 5,915 yards from the back tees, with dogleg fairways winding through pine trees and several water hazards that come into play more often than the yardage suggests. It's flat, walkable ground — no hills to fight, just accuracy off the tee. The signature hole is the par-5 8th, a 470-yard dogleg right that ends with an approach shot over water to a well-guarded green; misjudge the layup and you're fishing your ball out of the pond instead of two-putting for birdie. High handicappers will find plenty of forgiveness elsewhere on the card, and low handicappers get one hole worth bragging about.

Bayou Vista sits inland in north Gulfport, about four miles up from the Highway 90 beachfront and the casino strip. From the beach, take US-49 north past Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, then head west on Landon Road to Washington Avenue. Plan on fifteen to twenty minutes from most Biloxi and Gulfport beachfront hotels, and just five or ten if you're already staying in the hotel cluster near the airport — an easy add-on round on a golf-focused coast trip.

The Holiday Inn Gulfport-Airport is a solid budget option in the same stretch.
Our Take
Bayou Vista won't remind anyone of the championship courses along Highway 90, and it isn't trying to. What you get is an honest, walkable round for less than the price of a casino buffet, a clubhouse that finally matches the greens after the 2017 overhaul, and one legitimately fun risk-reward hole at No. 8. Bring an extra sleeve of balls for the water, skip the cart if the coast humidity hasn't beaten you yet, and don't expect valet parking.
